In 1993 the Brtish insurance industry test centre at Thatcham in Berkshire was tasked with establishing standards for car security products.

The result was the Thatcham set of criteria, rigorous product testing standards and lists of approved products, regularly reviewed.

PDA have their accredation through VSIB who are the national Regulatory and Accrediation body for Vehicle Systems Installers and their installations.
